This trip gets two stars for a poor rating only because the apprentice tried to hard for us, and we did get some good shots and a very decent bone. Lastly, Stevie quoted $650 a day for a full day with two people, and this magically changed to $700 two days before the trip. We simply gave up trying to punch a 7 weight into a 15 knot steady wind. We inevitably were positioned downwind of most fish, which made for very tough casts into a stiff wind, sometimes over 50-60 feet. But lack of fly experience didn t allow him to always position us for optimum casting. The apprentice was very nice, and man could he spot the bonefish. We said that wouldn t work, but luckily, we were close enough to the pier that Stevie arrived with HIS group of 3 spin fishers, and handed us two really nice rods and a good ree (Orvis Helios and Sage X). As we left the pier, I asked where the flyrods were. The taxi took us to his pier, and there was his "apprentice" to take us flyfishing. We asked to make this a full day, and after checking his schedule, Stevie said "full day is available for flyfishing, so all you need to bring is lunch and drinks". Booked a half fay in advance for flyfishing for two.
